Car Update
I sold my car today. Less then a week of being on the market, too. What was pretty weak was that I could probably have gotten some more money out of it. The person that bought it had it checked out at the mechanic before he finalized the deal and it passed a 128-point inspection at 100%. He said it was also underpriced. D’oh! But I’m not too worried. I’ve got a chunk of change in the bank and I’ve reduced my dependence on oil. Not a bad thing now that gas is over $3/gal now.

Hey Stan, how’s it going? Just stopping by; wanted to congratulate you on your choice. You’ll dig the carless lifestyle, I’m sure - I’ve been an urban pedestrian-by-choice for more than 2 years now, and I wouldn’t go back. Between a car-owning boo and flexcar, you’ll be fine.
I’m going to be in the SEA for a few days in July, hoping to catch up with people there; perhaps you will be around.

It seems like every direction I ride I’m riding into a strong headwind, literally. It’s the strangest thing. Maybe it’s just the universe’s way of training me. But it’s a pain the ass.
But seriously, it’s very gratifying to not rely on my car. Seattle’s a pretty great city to do that.
Look forward to seeing you in July.

Scientific American did a great article on this probably a decade ago (re: always biking into the wind) … I couldn’t find it but they proved, through lot’s of math, that any wind that isn’t almost directly behind you feels like a head wind… making any wind at have something like a 75% chance of being perceived as a head wind.

Man, and here I thought it was just me being a puss.
