After I got my tattoo, I quickly realized that the only adjective that I’ve ever heard used to describe a tattoo is “cool”. I think my tattoo is cool, but it’s more than that for me. It came at a time where I was thrown into the blender at work. I had just come off of a 2-week frenzy at work where the proverbial shit hit the fan. I’ve been practicing aikido for about two years now and have found that I really have been able to apply my practice to everyday life. This was one of those situations. In my training, I’ve been working up to taking my 2nd kyu test which is the first test that has freestyle with multiple attackers, or randori (ä¹±å–りv). It requires taking the chaos and getting through it at the other end calmly and without injury. While working in my office isn’t literally like getting attacked by multiple trained attackers, it has been pretty chaotic. I small part of this tattoo represents that calm that can only be achieved by coming out of the chaos unscathed. |
