Bonehead move

So I got this motorcycle, right? Well, being new to motorcycles, I drove it home, parked it and took the key out. Well, turns out I left the key in the “P” instead of “Off” which leaves the “P”arking lights on. Now I can’t start it. What a dumbass.

Update:
The dealership I got it from was nice enough to pick up the bike and charge it for me and then drop it back off. I normally park it in the back, so when they dropped it off in front of the house and the sun was shining, I had to take the *long* way around the block.

I did the same thing… why the hell do motorcycles have Park anyhow? I bought a second KLR650 which I’m keeping at my dads place in Denver to do the $200 fly and ride option… because, well, CO rocks for Motorcycle mayhem. We’re out in Moab, Utah riding Canyonlands this week - unbelievable (been here many times, but on a motorcycle… even better).

One thing you might want to get for your bike (depending on how hard it is to get to the battery) is a charger that comes with an extension… so you don’t have to dismantle to get at the battery. I use the Battery Tender Plus (easy to google). If you don’t have a garage this is mandatory for winter - as your battery will die in the cold if you don’t ride every couple of weeks.
