ebAy SAleS - $1,949.68
Holy crap! I just dropped the last packages off to the post office today. Maybe I should have listed these a while ago because when you’re trying to sell a crapload of shit on ebay right before you move so that you don’t have to move with it, it can get pretty crazy. We ended up selling everything but one figure. That one figure is the very first Bart figure that was released. I think it’s a sign, so I’m deciding to keep it.
So, for the 54 auctions that sold, the total amount of the sales was $1,949.68! (After all the fees from paypal and ebay, it probably brought it down to about $1600, but that’s still pretty good). Who would have known that we would rake in more than a mortgage payment for toys? I did keep track of how much time I spent listing everything, answering questions, shipping, etc. It was just about 24 hours over the last 2 weeks. I was curious whether it was worth all the time it took to sell it. If you consider a low freelance web dev rate of $50/hour, that comes out to $1200. That means I only made about $400 on all of that, but it’s out of my life forever, and that’s priceless. I think next time I do something like this mass selling stuff, I’ll just hire someone to do it for me and fork over the whatever percent commission they take.
As for the software, GarageSale worked great for listing everything, but I still preferred ebay’s selling manager for managing the auctions once they were live. It’s only $4.99/month and I would highly recommend turning it on temporarily if you’ve got to sell lots of stuff at once.
