Photos' best friend
My latest business write-off.
It's been a good year. Want to make sure my data stays safe, so when it came time to spend some money, I decided a redundant storage device would be a good investment.
I already back up with Time Machine, make a daily snapshot of my drive with SuperDuper, and upload my important files to Mozy.com and Dropbox, but my iMac, with it's limited storage capacity and poor upgradability is reaching it's limits.
I've got 1TB in the iMac, but my iTunes library alone is 100GB and my Aperture library and RAW masters take up another 110GB. I've digitized my DVDs: 300GB, and I use VMWare: 150GB in virtuals. I'm down to about 5GB free.
Enter Drobo. I plan to move all the stuff I don't want to lose over there, e.g. photos, videos, and music (the stuff that tends to need lots more space over time. The Drobo S allows you to add hard drives when you need to without any downtime and if a drive (or 2) ever decide to take the crap, it has dual-disk failure protection.I'm excited for this new toy... Erm, business expense.
